On November 1st, 2nd and 3rd, FIFPA went to Switzerland, a new FIPFA associate member, to promote and develop Powerchair Football. The delegation included 8 players (7 France, 1 USA), 2 coaches (1 France, 1 USA), 2 referees (USA), Europe Zone President and FIPFA President who also is Director of the Development Commission. During 2 days, the delegation presented all the aspects of Powerchair Football: Federation organizational system, refereeing, equipment, team management, coaching, and playing.
A commentated demonstration launched this first clinic of our young Federation. Following that, different workshops took place for the athletes and staff with the intention of teaching them key skills for promoting and establishing Powerchair Football in Switzerland.
At the end of this first day, the Swiss organization hosted a gala dinner for the international delegation. This relaxing time also allowed the Swiss and the delegation to give their initial feedback.
On the second day, the Swiss had an opportunity during a friendly tournament to demonstrate from what they learned the day before. The mixed team, with Swiss and International athletes and staff, had a lot of fun.
Overall, this event was a training laboratory of sorts for our Federation, the clinic was a success, and the event as a whole will be a tool that the Development Commission can reference for the next clinic they implement.
